Synthesis Video Analytics is a powerful feature designed to provide insights into video engagement across your organization. This tool allows Synthesis champions and administrators to track which videos are most popular, how much of each video is being watched, both individually and on average, and how frequently users finish watching videos. These analytics offer valuable data to support content strategy and learning and development initiatives by verifying video completions and assessing user engagement. Furthermore, video analytics will play a key role in the upcoming Synthesis LMS, providing detailed insights into course videos.
By leveraging video analytics, organizations can ensure their video content is being utilized effectively, and champions can make informed decisions to enhance their content offerings.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I access Video Analytics?
Video Analytics are a feature of Synthesis Content Optimization. The easiest way to access them is through the Global Saved View on the Content Inventory tab.
How is the video percentage watched calculated?
Each video is divided into 100 equal segments (or "chunks"). As the user watches the video, the system logs which chunks they have viewed. The percentage watched is determined by how many of these 100 chunks were viewed by the user in one session. If a user watches 50 chunks, for example, this would be logged as 50% watched.
What happens if a user skips ahead?
If a user skips ahead during the video, the skipped chunks are not counted as watched. For example, if a user skips from minute 2 to minute 10 in a 10-minute video, this would reflect as a 20% watch since they only watched 2 out of the 10 chunks.
How are finishes calculated?
A video is considered finished if the user has watched at least 95% of the video in one session. This means the user needs to view 95 out of the 100 chunks of the video for it to be marked as completed.
If a user opens a new tab or window while the video keeps playing, does that count as watching?
Yes. Even if the user opens a new tab or window while the video continues playing, it still counts as watching, as long as the video is playing in the background.
