Duplicating and Copying Blocks

How to duplicate a block on the same page or copy a block to a different post, page, or lesson using the native Duplicate Block and Copy Block to Clipboard options.

If you've configured a block exactly the way you want it, you can reuse it instead of building it again.

Duplicate Block makes a copy on the same post, page, or lesson.

Copy Block to Clipboard lets you paste the block into a different post, page, or lesson. Both options are available to anyone who can edit Posts, Pages, and Lessons.

Duplicate a block on the same page

Duplicate Block creates a copy of a block directly below the original. This is helpful when you need a similar block with a few changes, like a second Navigation Block with different resources or another Document Block for a different file.

  1. Open the post, page, or lesson in the editor.

  2. Click the block's options ellipsis or Settings Cog.

  3. Select Duplicate Block.

  4. Edit the copy as needed. Changes to the copy don't affect the original block.

Copy a block to a different post, page, or lesson

Copy Block to Clipboard copies a block so you can paste it into another post, page, or lesson.

  1. Open the post, page, or lesson that contains the block you want to copy, in the editor.

  2. Click the block's options ellipsis or Settings Cog.

  3. Select Copy Block to Clipboard. A "Copied to clipboard" confirmation appears.

  4. Navigate to the post, page, or lesson where you want the block, and open it in the editor.

  5. Click where you want the block to go and paste it (Ctrl+V on Windows, Cmd+V on Mac).

  6. The block is pasted with the same configuration as the original. Changes to the copy don't affect the original block. Save or publish as usual.
